For the 13th time, Verizon has released the highly comprehensive DBIR – Data breach investigation report, which shows a detailed analysis of thousands of actual network security breaches, and hundreds of thousands of attempts.

If you want to know what’s happening in threats to network security, downloading this document on the Verizon website is where we would recommend you start.

One point that really stuck out for me this year is the increase in errors, for example in unsecured S3 buckets on AWS, and as usual organized crime and nation-state actors in the breaches.  A strong recommendation in addition to teaching and testing your employees on phishing avoidance, is to transition to multi-factor authentication for all critical systems.
